How to create and Register your business - Running your own company means following your own dream and riding the path to potential success. It does also mean however having certain responsibilities against your fellow shareholders, your staff and of course the state authorities. This seminar aims initially to give a high level introduction of how you can set-up your own entity as well as the key legal considerations of a Cyprus registered company. It will also provide a quick overview of a company's main tax and VAT obligations. It will close with a quick presentation of the tax advantages of Cyprus as an Intellectual Property location.

Michalis Stavrides

Michalis is a Director at Tax, Reporting and Strategy Services of PwC Cyprus, responsible for servicing local and international clients across industry groups setting their operations in Cyprus. He is currently driving the provision of finance function and payroll outsourcing services, personal taxation and general company compliance services. Having worked in London, UK with Andresen and Deloitte, Michalis returned to Cyprus and has been with PwC Cyprus since 2002. Over the 9 year period to 2011, Michalis built an extensive experience in various areas of Corporate Finance, such as company valuation, feasibility studies and business planning. Michalis was also responsible for a large number of strategy, operational effectiveness and organisational structuring projects.

In 2011, Michalis moved in the area of Direct Tax and was responsible for the delivery of direct tax compliance and advisory services to local and international clients operating in Cyprus. Since 2013 he is responsible for the delivery of finance function and payroll outsourcing services to the Firm’s clients operating across industry groups. Michalis is also the Firm’s responsible Director for supporting and promoting entrepreneurship activities and has been a jury and business mentor in various start-up competitions.

Michalis holds a BSc (Hons) degree in Economics and Accounting from the University of Bristol and he is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus.
